Dedicated to empowering college students with executive functioning challenges by fostering a strengths-based community that celebrates their unique abilities and accomplishments.
AsUR's Mission
AsUR supports students with executive functioning challenges by providing a strengths-based, supportive community that recognizes and celebrates neurodiverse ways of thinking and learning. The AsUR program focuses primarily on first- and second-year students, providing early support during the important transition to college when students are developing new academic habits, independence, and self-management skills.
Many of the skills required for success in college such as managing time, organizing coursework, starting assignments, and keeping track of deadlines are connected to executive functioning. When students experience challenges in these areas, the increased independence and complexity of college life can make academics, daily routines, and long-term planning more difficult.
AsUR is an intensive student support program designed to help students build these skills through personalized mentoring, structured support, and community connection. By helping students strengthen executive functioning skills and develop strategies that work for them, AsUR supports students in building confidence, resilience, and independence throughout their college experience.
Executive Function Skills We Focus On
AsUR supports the development of seven core executive functioning areas:
Monitoring (self and tasks)
Planning and organizing
Working memory
Cognitive flexibility (switching)
Initiation
Emotional regulation
Inhibition
